Following the recent success in the CONCACAF Nations League, we’re back in action for the upcoming match pitting Martinique against El Salvador.

It’s a bit puzzling to me why the odds aren’t reversed, but I’m leaning towards a 2-point bet on the home side at over 2/1 odds. While Martinique has only secured victory in two of their last five games, they are known for their goal-scoring prowess, and El Salvador has shown vulnerabilities in front of the net.

One of the most memorable matches of the entire season last year was during the CONCACAF Gold Cup when Martinique faced Costa Rica and was defeated 6-4 in an absolute thriller that witnessed seven second-half goals. I personally watched this exhilarating contest live on television, and it could easily have seen even more goals, with Martinique managing 6 shots on target out of 14.

Earlier in the same tournament, Martinique secured a 2-1 victory over El Salvador with two first-half goals. This was another match with plenty of scoring opportunities, as El Salvador had 22 shots, with 10 of them on target. Yet, Martinique’s goalkeeper, Yannis Clementia, who plays for Caen in France, put on a stellar performance that night.

When it comes to their home record, the hosts have performed quite well, winning three of their last four home games. In contrast, El Salvador is enduring a dreadful streak, having not won any of their last 14 consecutive games. In their most recent outing, El Salvador suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Trinidad and Tobago, and prior to that, they were beaten 2-0 by Guatemala.

The odds for Martinique appear to be quite generous, and I’m confident that they can secure a victory against an El Salvador team that has conceded nine goals in their last five matches.

Good luck.
