Here’s another appealing Bet Builder opportunity, and we’re aiming to replicate the success we enjoyed with the Norway and Argentina games earlier this week. Malta is set to make the journey to face Luciano Spalletti’s Italy, and it’s widely anticipated to be a comfortable victory for the Azzurri.
Spalletti assumed the reins of the Italian team in August and had a rather underwhelming start, securing a 1-1 draw in their away match against lowly North Macedonia. However, they rebounded with a 2-1 win over Ukraine but unfortunately, some turmoil has hit the Italian camp, as midfielders Nicolo Zaniolo from Aston Villa and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United were both sent home due to allegations of gambling on matches. This less-than-ideal preparation could potentially affect their performance.
Nonetheless, Italy is expected to have no difficulties against Malta, a team that has faced defeats in all their qualifiers so far. While Michele Marcolini’s squad managed a friendly victory over Gibraltar last month, they have only netted once in their five qualifiers while conceding a staggering 11 goals. Given this, I consider “Both Teams to Score – No” a reliable choice.
Taking into account the limited goal-scoring in Spalletti’s first two games and the fact that Italy has not managed to score more than four goals since September 2021 when they won 5-0 at home against Lithuania, I find the option “Under 4.5 Italian goals” an attractive addition to our bet. Adding weight to this, it’s noteworthy that Malta has not conceded five or more goals since November 2011 when they suffered a 6-0 defeat against Slovakia.
For the final part of our bet, it’s worth noting that Malta has received two or more cards in six of their last ten games. Considering Italy’s potential dominance in the match, it’s quite plausible that Malta may grow impatient and collect additional cards.
