Sunday’s Daily Double brings us two Euro 2024 qualifiers, one with hopes of seeing plenty of goals and the other not so much.

The action begins at 2 pm with Georgia facing Cyprus. While the hosts have a very slim hope of still qualifying, both teams appear strong candidates for a goal-fest. So far, a total of 18 goals have been scored in Georgia’s five games, and 24 in the Cypriots’ six games, even though the two sides have only managed to score seven goals between them. Georgia boasts an array of talent, including Napoli’s “Khvadonna” Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, one of my favourite players, and they seem poised to find the net against Cyprus’s defence. Georges Mikautadze, Ajax’s new signing who hasn’t inexplicably seen much action with the club, scored four goals in Georgia’s 8-0 friendly win over Thailand.

Cyprus has been on a rough patch, losing their last five games, including a 2-1 loss at home to Georgia. Furthermore, their recent results have been far from promising, with a 3-0 loss to Scotland and a 6-0 defeat to Spain last month. Last week, Erling Haaland scored twice in a 4-0 win for Norway, indicating that Georgia could breach Cyprus’s defence.

Considering that Georgia has failed to keep a clean sheet in competitive football during the Euro 2024 qualifiers, there’s a great chance that Cyprus could score one or two goals themselves. Over 2.5 Goals appears to be a strong bet in this matchup.

Moving on to the second part of the Daily Double, Romania is expected to comfortably dispatch Andorra to keep their hopes of qualification alive. Andorra has faced five defeats and two draws in their seven qualifiers so far, conceding just 13 goals in those games. This is why I believe a Romania win with under 4.5 Goals is the most confident bet of the day to round out the double. Romania is on a seven-game undefeated streak, although they haven’t been high scorers, with only nine goals scored in their seven games.
