Harry Souttar to score anytime

Leicester City central defender Harry Souttar has been impressive in the air, scoring three headed goals in Australia’s last five games. This match presents another favourable opportunity for him to capitalize on his aerial prowess. Standing at an imposing height of 6 feet 6 inches, Souttar has been prolific in converting corners against opponents like Palestine, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, exploiting his height advantage over smaller defenders in the Asian region.

Facing India today, it’s worth noting that their defence lacks considerable height, with the exception of Sandesh Jhingan, who stands at 6 feet 2 inches. Jhingan, playing for Goa, is likely to mark Souttar during corners and free-kicks. If Souttar can capitalise on his chances and direct his headers on target, we should see it nestle into the back of the goal. Souttar’s headers (shots) have consistently found the target in the last five international matches, he’s three for three, with only two attempts failing to do so against a much taller, smarter defensively England side.

At 3/1, this is indeed short for a central defender to score anytime, however I feel this is a fair price in a game where the Socceroos will dominate. There is massive gulf in talent in this match and India, 102nd in the FIFA World Rankings, should concede a few as the Australians will be aiming to get off to a good start. India’s record in the last few games does not make good reading for their defenders, despite a 1-0 away win against Kuwait (136th) in the World Cup Qualifiers. They have conceded 10 goals in the last five, including three at home to Qatar, two away to Iraq and, more worrying, four away to the 130th Malaysia.

Good luck!
