🌍 CONCACAF Nations League – Group A ⚽
🇨🇼 Curaçao vs. Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
Thursday night’s CONCACAF Nations League Group A clash presents a compelling statistical match-up between Curaçao (82) and Trinidad and Tobago (102). Dick Advocaat’s men sit joint-top of Group A with Haiti after a 6–1 destruction of Nicaragua and T&T are yet to find a point.
Playing at home in Willemstad, The Blue Wave are a dominant force, undefeated in their last 16 home fixtures, winning ten of them. They feature impressive European-based attacking depth, led by Dutch brother Juninho and Leandro Bacuna alongside Kenji Gorré, which was on full display during their recent six-goal routing of the lowly Nicaragua (131). Facing a shaky Trinidad defence that recently conceded twice at home to the Dominican Republic (144) losing 2-1. Curaçao have more than enough quality to control the game, securing all three points.
While Curaçao have the fire-power to win, keeping a clean sheet remains their primary vulnerability. Dick Advocaat’s side averages 2.4 goals conceded per game over their last 10 outings. Trinidad & Tobago have consistently managed to find the net against Caribbean opposition, scoring in four of their last five meetings with Curaçao—including a 1–1 draw in World Cup qualifying at this exact venue last October. Forward Levi Garcia provides the Soca Warriors with sufficient counter-attacking threat to breach a porous Curaçao backline.
Trinidad & Tobago have dropped seven of their last ten away matches, making an outright shock result in Willemstad unlikely. However, given that eight of Trinidad’s last ten games have featured Over 2.5 goals and Curaçao rarely secures a clean sheet, I like adding Both Teams to Score to get 4.00 at Bet365 here.
In this September window, T&T lost the aforementioned 2-1 to the Dom Rep and lost 3-2 in Haiti. Although they may be without two of their goal scorers in those games due to the lack of discipline in the Haiti game. Wayne Frederick of the Colorado Rapids and Daniel Phillips of Stevenage were both sent off against Dominican Republic. The major reliance may be on wingers Reon Moore and Levi Garcia to notch a goal, a feat the latter completed against Haiti.
And yes, Curaçao rarely keep a clean sheet and the last two games have shown that, Nicaragua got a consolation in the 6-1 and last Sunday they found themselves 3-0 down away to Costa Rica. However, they sent their fans into a euphoria securing a twenty-minute comeback in the second half to win 4-3. These two met last year in a 1-1 draw in Willemstad and 5-3 home win back in 2023.
