What do the World Cup campaigns of Haiti, Tunisia, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Panama — and this match — have in common? They’re all pointless. This game, honestly. The players could already be home, on holiday, or back with their clubs for pre‑season training four days earlier than scheduled. Instead, they’re stuck in the United States playing an absolutely pointless fixture. Let’s hope no one gets injured.
As this game is a joke, just picking a couple of bets out for entertainment purposes once the line-ups were announced. Kylian Mbappé is chasing the Golden Boot and sits level with Lionel Messi on eight goals. No disrespect to England, but Mbappé definitely has the softer assignment tonight. I can see France beating whatever XI England put out, and with the pressure off both teams, this has all the ingredients for a game where goals fly in at both ends.
In what should be an open game, I feel Eberechi Eze and Marcus Rashford are good to have a shot on target. Eze averaged 0.95 per 90 in the Premier League last season, and 3.59 in World Cup Qualifying. Rashford is averaging 1.53 per 90 in the tournament, 1.48 in La Liga last season and 1.32 in World Cup Qualifying. This is a very good France side, but like I say, a game with little pressure to win and we should plenty shooting opportunities.
Best of luck.
